The Brick Box

On a compact site in Shivaji Peth, a family home looks to the traditions of the Indian wada. A brick frontage, natural stone floors and custom timber furniture lend a tactile character to everyday spaces.

With neighbours close on either side, light enters vertically through the staircase and skylights. Wooden details recall familiar Indian forms, while the plan makes thoughtful use of a narrow footprint. It is an exploration of how a contemporary home can hold the memory of place.
